Uma-5588 Method Updated Access
Subject: Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the Determination of Trace Metal Contaminants in Aqueous Solutions via UMA-5588 Method
Document ID: LAB-CHEM-5588 Revision: 2.1 Effective Date: [Current Date] uma-5588 method
Phase B: The Cyclic Exposure (The Core of the Method)
- Immersion: The sample is submerged in the immersion tank for 4 hours.
- Drainage: The sample is removed and allowed to drain for 2 hours on a 2.0mm mesh sieve.
- Drying: The sample is placed in the Reaction Chamber with desiccants for 6 hours to simulate rapid drying.
- Note: This cycle is repeated 5 times (Cycle Count N=5).
Renewable Energy: Offshore Wind
Corrosion and fatigue in offshore wind turbine blade roots are difficult to assess. Using the UMA-5588 method via drone-mounted transducers, inspectors can now quantify root joint integrity from a distance, specifically looking for the 62–74 kHz phase anomaly associated with saltwater ingress. Immersion: The sample is submerged in the immersion
9. Health, Safety, and Waste Disposal
- Nitric Acid and Hydrochloric Acid: Corrosive. Use in a fume hood with PPE (nitrile gloves, lab coat, face shield).
- Mercury-containing wastes: Collect separately in labeled plastic containers for hazardous waste disposal.
- UMA-5588 Resin: Non-hazardous but must be disposed of according to local regulations for ion-exchange materials.
