Chapter 2: The Echo Chambers (Old “Memory Leech” area)
Goal: Retrieve the three fragmented memories. Update changes: The Leech is gone. Use Echo Lock.
- How Echo Lock works: Instead of stealing memories, you now “lock” a thought pattern in place. Aim at a floating memory orb. Hold ‘F’ until the orb turns gold.
- Puzzle 2A (The Spinning Room): Previously you had to run. Now, lock the spinning wall just as the green door passes your view. Timing is tight.
- Puzzle 2B (The Child’s Drawing): Don’t touch the drawing. Use Echo Lock on the shadow behind the drawing. This reveals the code: 5-2-8-1.
Step-by-Step:
- Examine the cracked mirror on the left wall. Use your Focus Lens (press
Fon PC, or holdL2on console). You will see three colored threads: Red (ID), Blue (Ego), Green (Superego). - Interact with the desk. Instead of finding a key, you will find a Metronome. This is your primary tool for the first chapter.
- The Balancing Act: Click each node, but watch the oscillation meter on the metronome.
- Click Red (ID) if the needle swings too far into Order (right side).
- Click Blue (Ego) if the needle swings too far into Chaos (left side).
- Click Green (Superego) only when the needle is exactly in the middle (a white line appears).
- New puzzle solution: Wait for the metronome to tick three times on the middle line before clicking the door. Old guides said "click immediately" – that now triggers a fail state.
Reward: The "Steady Hand" achievement and access to the Hall of Echoes.
Boss: The Guilt Eater
- Old Strategy: Attack its shadow.
- Updated Strategy: Use “Listen” (new ability). It will recite three statements. One is a lie. Attack the voice that lies. Doing this correctly earns you the Pure Echo item, required for the secret ending.
Chapter 3: The Infinite Hall (Completely Reworked)
This is the most notorious section, and why most players search for an updated walkthrough. The infinite hallway is no longer a simple loop puzzle.
Pro Tips for the Updated Walkthrough
- Save Often, but Not Too Often: The new version has an “Adaptive Difficulty” that tracks your reloads. If you save-scum (load a save more than 5 times in a chapter), the puzzles add extra layers.
- Listen to the Ambient Music: In Chapter 3 and 5, the music changes pitch when you are near a hidden Memory Fragment. Use headphones.
- Do Not Follow Old Video Guides: Any video walkthrough uploaded before October 2025 is obsolete for Chapters 3 and 4. The key locations have been shuffled.
- The “Mind Health” Meter: New to v2.1. If it drops below 30%, your character will hallucinate fake solutions. Rest at a “Thinking Couch” (available in each chapter’s hub area) to restore it.
Key Characters & Their New Preferences:
- Councilor Vey (Logic): Respects you for solving the Probability Trial without guessing. Mention the “white dot” method in dialogue.
- Councilor Mira (Empathy): Reacts to how you handled Door 2 (Regret). If you chose “Acceptance,” she will ally with you immediately.
- Councilor Kael (Chaos): Only trusts players who found at least 3 hidden Memory Fragments.
