Step 4: Creating Your Company File
- Company File Name: Choose a name for your company file that you'll remember. This is where all your financial data will be stored.
- Data Location: Decide where on your computer or network you want to store your company file.

- Search your email for purchase confirmations from Sage or the reseller, looking for terms like “Peachtree,” “Sage 50,” “serial,” or “product key.”

3. Post-Installation Registration & Activation
Merely installing the software with a serial number is often not enough. Peachtree 2010 requires "registration" to unlock the full functionality beyond a trial period.

- Insert the DVD or run the official installer executable.
- When prompted, follow the on‑screen installer steps: accept the license agreement, select install location, and choose Full or Custom install.
- If upgrading, choose the Upgrade option; otherwise select New Installation.
Option 1: The Offline Activation File (Rare)
In 2010, Sage offered an offline HTML form. You would generate a request.html file, email it to Sage, and they would email back an activation.html file.
