As of 2025, Furuno is shifting toward subscription-based licensing for premium features (weather, live sonar, detailed bathymetry). The classic "perpetual" activation code remains available, but users should expect a hybrid model:

Base software: Perpetual Activation Code (yours forever).
Cloud services: Monthly subscription requiring an online login.

Step 1: Purchase a License

You purchase Time Zero directly from Furuno, an authorized dealer (like Hodges Marine or Defender), or as a digital download.

Boxed Product: Inside the CD case or manual, you will find a scratch-off card or a sticker labeled "License Key."
Digital Download: You will receive an email from Furuno or the reseller containing the code.

Step 2: Generate a Request Code

When you install Maxsea Time Zero for the first time, the software scans your computer’s hardware. It generates a unique Request Code (sometimes called a Machine Code).

This code looks like: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
Crucial Note: This request code is specific to that computer. Changing your hard drive, reinstalling Windows, or updating your BIOS will generate a new Request Code.
