Reading time: 10 minutes
Recommended Free Tools:
- OpenBoardView (Cross-platform, best for LM495).
- BoardViewer for Windows (Legacy, but faster for large files).
Pro tip: In OpenBoardView, load the LM495_BOARDVIEW_REV2.0_FIXED.cad file. Use the Netlist mode (Ctrl+F) to highlight the entire +3VALW rail. The fixed file corrects the coordinate offset for PU5 (always misaligned in v1.0). Lm495 Mb 11269-2 Schematic Download Fixed

3.1. "Controller Won't Turn On" (Dead Board)
- Trace the Power Rail: Locate the battery input pins on the schematic.
- Check Fuses: Look for "F1" or similar designators. These are often small 0402 or 0603 package fuses. If the schematic shows a fuse, check continuity.
- Check Capacitors: Look for decoupling capacitors near the MCU (designators starting with "C"). If a capacitor is shorted to ground (measured with a multimeter), it will prevent the controller from powering on. The schematic allows you to identify which rail is shorted.
2. Power Cycling Every 3 Seconds (Page 45 & 51)
The Symptom: The fan spins, the LED turns on for 5 seconds, then off, then repeats. OpenBoardView (Cross-platform, best for LM495)
The Root Cause: Missing PROC_HOT signal or a failed CPU power rail.
Using the Fixed Schematic:
- Go to Page 45 (SVID Interface & IMVP8).
- Check
+VCC_CORE(CPU Vcore). - Look for
PL11andPL12(inductors). If they briefly pulse 0.8V then die, the issue is often SMD capacitors on the+1.05V_MErail. - The Fix: On Page 35, locate
+1.05V_ME(Power for PCH). In 40% of repairs,PC179(a 10µF ceramic cap) is shorted. Remove and replace.
