  • Speed: Free users are capped at low speeds. If the file is large (10GB+), it can take hours. Consider splitting the download or using a download manager if possible.
  • File Format: Most files come in .NSP format. Some may come compressed in .RAR or .ZIP. You must unzip these on your PC before transferring.

1. Prerequisites

Before you search for games, you must have a modified Switch. You cannot play NSP files on a standard, unmodified console.

  • A Hacked Switch: Your Switch must be vulnerable (usually unpatched V1 units) or modded with a chip (like the HWFLY chip for V2/Lite/OLED).
  • Custom Firmware (CFW): You must be running Atmosphère (the standard CFW).
  • Sigpatches: These are essential files that allow your Switch to install and play unofficial NSP files. Without these, the games will show a "corrupted data" error or fail to install.
  • DBI Installer: This is a homebrew application used to install NSP files from a USB or SD card. (GoldLeaf is another option, but DBI is currently recommended for stability).
  • A Terabox Account: A free account works, but a premium account removes download speed limits.

6. Common Issues & Troubleshooting

Game Won't Update

  • Cause: The update file is missing or mismatched.
  • Fix: You need to download the standalone update file (usually labeled as an NSP or a directory of NSPs). Install the update file just like you installed the game base file.

Method A: USB Installation (Fastest)

Requires DBI Installer and a USB-C cable.

  1. Plug your Switch into your PC via USB-C while in CFW (Hekate/Atmosphere).
  2. Open the DBI homebrew app on your Switch.
  3. Select Run MTP responder.
  4. On your PC, open "This PC". You will see a new device named "Switch".
  5. Open 5: SD Card (or 1: NAND if installing to internal memory, not recommended).
  6. Drag and drop your .NSP file into the Install folder.
  7. The Switch screen will show a progress bar. Once finished, the game is installed.
