6. Uninstalling / Reinstalling

  • Run I7561_Uninstaller.exe from the original driver folder.
  • Or use Windows → Apps & Features → “ICP DAS I-7561 Driver”.
  • Important: After uninstall, reboot before reinstalling.

5. Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • Issue: The device appears in Device Manager with a yellow warning triangle.
    • Solution: This indicates a driver mismatch. Uninstall the device from Device Manager, unplug the USB, and run the FTDI cleaner utility or reinstall the FTDI driver manually by selecting "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer."
  • Issue: Cannot communicate with the end device.
    • Solution: Check the DIP Switches on the I-7561 unit. The DIP switches control whether the unit is in RS-232, RS-485 2-wire, or RS-485 4-wire mode. If the switch configuration does not match your serial device's wiring, no data will transfer, regardless of the driver status.

Step 3 – Run Installer

  1. Navigate to extracted folder → Windows subfolder.
  2. Right-click I7561_Installer.exeRun as Administrator.
  3. Follow prompts:
    • Accept license.
    • Select installation directory (default is fine).
    • Choose “Complete” installation.

Q4: Can I use a generic FTDI driver?

A: No. The I-7561 does not use an FTDI chip. Using a generic driver will cause erratic RS-485 behavior or complete failure. Run I7561_Uninstaller

Step 5 – Driver Binding (automatic on modern Windows)

  • Windows will detect “ICP DAS I-7561 USB-to-CAN”.
  • Allow automatic driver installation.
  • Check success:
    • Open Device ManagerPorts (COM & LPT) → you should see ICP DAS I-7561 (COMx).
    • Alternatively, under Universal Serial Bus devicesICP DAS I-7561.

Issue 2: Driver Installs but RS-485 Communication Fails

  • Cause: Auto-turnaround not working due to generic driver interference.
  • Solution: Uninstall any Prolific or CH340 drivers temporarily. Reinstall only the ICP CON driver. Reboot.

Issue 3: COM Port Number Too High (>16)

  • Solution: In Device Manager, right-click the I-7561 → Properties → Port Settings → Advanced → Select a lower COM port number (e.g., COM3 or COM4).
