1. Call Types
- Long Call (Construction): These are for long-term projects (6 months to 2+ years). Examples include the new Fountainbleau back-of-house expansions, the Brightline West high-speed rail infrastructure, or massive data centers like Switch or The Boring Company.
- Short Call (Short Call 1 or 2): These are temporary. A "Short Call 1" typically lasts less than 5 days. A "Short Call 2" is for major maintenance or short shutdowns (usually less than 20 days). If you take a short call, you remain on the books but are marked as "working."
- Vacancy Fill: Replacing a worker who quit, retired, or was laid off mid-project.
- RIF (Reduction in Force): When a job ends, workers are sent back to the hall (RIF’d). They retain their original book status.
