Dnv Phast Tutorial Updated |verified| Access
This tutorial moves beyond basic button-pushing to focus on engineering decisions within the software.
Step 5: Visualizing Results – The Updated Graphics Engine
In the legacy version, you would see a simple X-Y plot. Not anymore. dnv phast tutorial updated
- In the results tree, expand Dispersion > Contour Plots.
- Double-click FLAMMABLE – LFL.
- The 3D Graphics Viewer opens.
- Use mouse wheel to zoom.
- Right-click and drag to pan.
- New feature: Click the "Mesh" toggle to see a colored heatmap of concentration.
- To generate the standard "downwind distance":
- Right-click on the contour in the 3D view.
- Select Export to CSV or Add to Report.
- Look for Max distance to LFL: approximately 120 meters downwind, 15 meters crosswind for this methane hole.
Part 7: Linking to Risk Assessment (PHAST to Safeti)
A tutorial isn't complete without the integration step. This tutorial moves beyond basic button-pushing to focus
In the updated software suite:
- In PHAST, go to
File > Export > Safeti Risk File (.srf). - Open Safeti.
- Import the
.srf. The updated mapping now transfers time-varying release rates and direction-specific hole sizes automatically. - Generate Individual Risk Contours (IRPA). You will see that the updated models produce higher risk near ignition sources but lower far-field risk due to better dispersion physics.
