If you have spent more than 500 hours on DDNet, you know that vanilla graphics are functional—but custom texture packs are what make the game feel like yours. Blog Title: Level Up Your Visuals: Major Update

Today, we are excited to announce a massive refresh of the Official Community Texture Pack Repository. If you have spent more than 500 hours

After three months of beta testing with 50 veteran mappers, we have finalized updates to six major texture packs: Flattee, Kobra 2.0, Minimalistic_HD, Neonight, Classic_DDNet, and the brand-new Draggable_UI pack.

Here is everything that has changed.

2.3 Pack Structure

  • Standardized Format: Packs must be compressed in .zip or defined folder structures.
  • Manifest File: Each pack requires a info.json file defining metadata (version, author, conflicts, required client version).

2. Functional Requirements

5. Non-Functional Requirements

  • Performance: The texture loading process must not delay map loading by more than 500ms.
  • Storage: The system should clear cache for uninstalled texture packs to save disk space.
  • Security: Downloaded zip files must be verified via checksum to prevent malicious file injection.

3.1 Rendering Compatibility

  • Tileset Standardization: Ensure all packs adhere to the standard DDNet tileset index (standard, speedup, switch, tune).
  • Texture Atlasing: The engine will automatically generate texture atlases from the loose files in the pack to maintain high rendering performance.
