1. Safety Precautions
WARNING
- Turn off all power to the indoor and outdoor units before performing any work to avoid electric shock.
- Do not install the controller in places subject to oil, gas, or sulfuric acid fumes.
- Do not install near heat sources (radiators, space heaters).
- Ensure wiring conforms to local electrical codes.
Step 5: Attaching the Controller
- Hook the top of the controller onto the top hooks of the installation plate.
- Pivot the bottom of the controller toward the wall.
- Press firmly on the bottom until the latch clicks into place.
Configuration & Dip Switches
- Many Daikin controllers require DIP switch or menu configuration to set address/ID, control mode (individual/group), or enable features (remote sensor, alarm input).
- Set the controller address to match indoor unit/controller network requirements (e.g., unit number 1–16).
- After wiring, enter the setup menu to configure system type and options per model-specific instructions.
Overview
- Models: BRC1C51 and BRC1C61 are wired wall-mounted remote controllers/thermostats for Daikin air conditioners (commonly used with VRV/VRF and split systems).
- Purpose: Provide room temperature control, mode selection, fan speed, scheduling, and optional sensor connectivity.
- Important: Follow local electrical codes and safety practices. Power must be isolated before installation.
6. DIP Switch & Address Settings (for multi-system / VRV)
- BRC1C61 only has DIP switches inside (under the front cover).
- BRC1C51 – no DIP switches; addressing is automatic or via main PCB.
3. Required Tools
- Phillips Head Screwdriver
- Flathead Screwdriver (for wiring terminals)
- Drill with appropriate bit (for wall mounting)
- Wire Strippers
- Multimeter (for safety checks)
- 2-core shielded cable (PVC cable typically acceptable, check local codes for gauge requirements—usually 0.5mm² to 2.0mm²).
Common issues and troubleshooting
- No power / no display: verify supply from indoor unit, wiring continuity, correct terminals, and voltage where applicable.
- Communication fault: check bus wiring, termination, address conflicts, and noise sources (avoid routing alongside mains).
- Incorrect temperature reading: check placement, sensor wiring, and perform calibration.
- Controller commands not executing: confirm controller is enabled in indoor unit settings and not overridden by centralized controls or schedules.
- Intermittent control: inspect for loose connectors, cable damage, or electrical interference.
Overview: Daikin BRC1C51 / BRC1C61
These are Wired Remote Controllers used for Daikin SkyAir and VRV commercial systems. daikin brc1c51 61 installation manual
- BRC1C51: Standard model (often used with VRV).
- BRC1C61: Often designed for specific compatibility with R32 SkyAir models.
- Note: The installation procedure for both is nearly identical.
