How to download, create an ISO, and install Blancco Drive Eraser

This article explains how to obtain Blancco Drive Eraser, create a bootable ISO, and install/run it to securely erase drives. It assumes you have valid licensing or trial access from Blancco and that you’re erasing drives you own or are authorized to wipe.

Step 2: Create Bootable Media using Rufus (Recommended)

  1. Insert the USB drive. Open Rufus as administrator.
  2. Device: Select your USB.
  3. Boot selection: Click "SELECT" and choose your Blancco .iso file.
  4. Partition scheme: Choose MBR (for legacy BIOS) or GPT (for UEFI). If unsure, use MBR—Blancco supports both.
  5. File system: Rufus will auto-set to FAT32. Leave it.
  6. Volume label: Name it BLANCCO_BOOT.
  7. Click START. If asked to write in DD Image mode or ISO mode, select DD Image Mode (ensures boot compatibility).
