How to download, create an ISO, and install Blancco Drive Eraser
This article explains how to obtain Blancco Drive Eraser, create a bootable ISO, and install/run it to securely erase drives. It assumes you have valid licensing or trial access from Blancco and that you’re erasing drives you own or are authorized to wipe.
Step 2: Create Bootable Media using Rufus (Recommended)
- Insert the USB drive. Open Rufus as administrator.
- Device: Select your USB.
- Boot selection: Click "SELECT" and choose your Blancco
.isofile. - Partition scheme: Choose MBR (for legacy BIOS) or GPT (for UEFI). If unsure, use MBR—Blancco supports both.
- File system: Rufus will auto-set to FAT32. Leave it.
- Volume label: Name it
BLANCCO_BOOT. - Click START. If asked to write in DD Image mode or ISO mode, select DD Image Mode (ensures boot compatibility).
2. Requirements
Before you begin, ensure you have:
- The Blancco ISO file (obtained via the portal).
- A valid License Code (purchased or provided during trial).
- A USB Flash Drive (at least 1GB or 2GB in size).
- Rufus or Rufus Portable (a free tool to burn the ISO to USB).
Step 4: The Erasure
- Select the target drive. (Double-check – you cannot undo this).
- Click "Start Erasure."
- Wait. A 1TB HDD takes ~2-4 hours. An NVMe SSD takes ~2 minutes.
