Allwinner A133 firmware install

Method B: Using PhoenixCard (For SD Card)

If your USB port is broken or you cannot enter FEL mode, you can flash using a MicroSD card.

  1. Download PhoenixCard.
  2. Insert a MicroSD card (formatted to FAT32) into your PC.
  3. Run PhoenixCard.exe.

Part 4: Installing Allwinner USB Drivers

Windows will not recognize your A133 device in FEL mode without the proper drivers.

Step-by-step driver installation:

  1. Download the Allwinner_USB_Drivers.zip (often included with PhoenixSuit).
  2. Extract the folder.
  3. Right-click on install.bat and select "Run as Administrator".
  4. Wait for the console to confirm installation.
  5. Alternatively, if using PhoenixSuit, navigate to the Drivers folder inside the installation directory and run the installer manually.

Verify driver installation:

Step 3: Flash Using PhoenixSuit (Standard Method)

  1. Launch PhoenixSuit as Administrator.
  2. Click the “Firmware” tab → “Image” → Browse and select your .img file. PhoenixSuit will verify it.
  3. Choose flash mode:
    • “Format User Data” – Recommended for a clean install.
    • “Keep User Data” – Risky; may cause boot loops. Avoid unless specified.
  4. Enter FEL mode (Allwinner’s low-level bootloader):
    • Method A (Button): Press and hold the recovery button → Connect USB cable to PC → Continue holding for 5 seconds → Release.
    • Method B (Short pins – no button): Connect USB cable → Quickly short the FEL pin (usually NAND pin 1 or a designated test point) to ground for 1 second.
  5. PhoenixSuit will detect the device and pop up: “Found a device in FEL mode. Do you want to flash?” → Click Yes.
  6. Flashing begins – you’ll see a progress bar:
    • First, the tool erases NAND/eMMC.
    • Then writes bootloader, boot, system, vendor, and data partitions.
    • This takes 3–10 minutes.
  7. Upon completion (100% green), PhoenixSuit says “Firmware upgrade successful!” → Click OK.
  8. Disconnect the USB cable – the device will reboot automatically. If not, hold power for 10 seconds.
