A Zombie’s Life Walkthrough: Essential Guide to Survival and Relationships

A Zombie's Life is an adult-themed RPG Maker survival game that combines resource management with character-driven storytelling. Players navigate a post-apocalyptic world, balancing the need to scavenge for supplies with the goal of building relationships (Affection) with various female survivors. Starting Strategy: Character Creation

Choosing the right starting stats is critical for long-term survival:

Optimal Stats: Start with 5 Strength and 5 Sense. This combination maximizes your ability to carry loot and reduces the chance of finding nothing while scavenging.

Defense: Invest at least 3 points in Endurance to provide a buffer against "fast zombies" that appear later in the game.

Training Priority: Focus on Strength > Sense > Toughness > Agility > Talk. Core Walkthrough: The Lab Quest

One of the most important story arcs involves the laboratory sequence, which unlocks "fast zombies" on the overworld map.

Finding the Entrance: Go to the offices/cave area. Stay close to the wall to reveal a hidden door.

Laboratory A: Retrieve the first test tube. Note that zombies here are fast but move in predictable patterns.

Laboratory B: Pick up the Lab B keycard first to access the second test tube.

Laboratory C: Access the computer and enter the passwords 77, 28, 53 to collect the third test tube.

Laboratory D: Use the computer to open storage and grab the fourth and final test tube. Affection and Relationship Guide

Building affection is the key to unlocking character endings and special scenes.

Liz (Main Character's Mom): She is a primary companion. Giving specific items can push her affection beyond its default maximum. Abby:

The Guitar: Found in the right-side room on the top floor of the building to the left of the offices (near the cemetery). Giving this grants +1 Affection.

Night Events: Sleeping in her bed at night or interacting in the backyard in the morning increases her "Love" total.

Isabelle: To start her questline, you must provide her with 8 specific items (Medicine counts as 1).

Managing Group Morale: You can use Alcohol to influence characters like the Mother or Aunt (Alex), often unlocking interactions with other characters like Abby during the same timeframe. Survival & Gameplay Tips

Combat Avoidance: Do not kill zombies outside of buildings unless necessary, as they respawn.

Managing Scavenging: Once you progress far enough, you can bring NPCs with you to help scavenge for supplies.

Clothing Store: A clothing store is located in the Southwest (SW) area of the map where you can pick up outfits to give to NPCs.

New Trader: A trader is available in North West City within a building that was previously blocked.

Avoiding Game Over: In newer versions, failing a "struggle scene" does not immediately result in a game over; instead, character clothing is torn. You only hit a game over after three failures while the character is already naked. Affection Guide for Game Characters | PDF - Scribd

A Zombie's Life is a survival-focused adult RPG where you manage resources and build relationships during a sudden outbreak. While it shares an art style with the popular Zombie's Retreat , it is a separate title developed by a different creator. Core Gameplay Mechanics

Survival in this world depends on balancing your physical state with base management: Base Upkeep

: You must collect junk, scrap metal, wood, and electronic parts to upgrade your safehouse and maintain supplies.

: Speaking with characters like Abby allows you to train, which increases your stats, essential for surviving encounters. Time Management

: Activities consume time. You will need to sleep at night to recover; staying awake for multiple days in a row causes fatigue. Character Relationship Walkthrough

Building affection with survivors is a key part of the game's progression. Initial Interaction

: Most relationships begin with a standard conversation at home to gain your first affection point.

: Giving items like alcohol can boost a character's affection level.

: Specific scenes are triggered by reaching affection milestones. For example, some characters may visit you at night after reaching 2 total affection points. Cooperation

: Assigning characters to tasks, such as digging in the library, can open up further interaction options like kissing or deeper conversations in that specific location. General Survival Tips Inventory Check

: Always return items to the supply bin inside your home base to ensure you have materials for future upgrades. Family Meals

: Having dinner and talking with your "Mother" character is a consistent way to progress time and maintain the main story loop. Exploration

: Scavenge during the day when possible, as moving around at night without proper stats can lead to dangerous encounters or faster exhaustion. or a guide for a specific character's storyline? Affection Guide for Game Characters | PDF - Scribd

Level 3: The Social Network (Joining the Horde)

Objective: Find 5 other zombies. Reward: Unlock "The Shuffle" emote.

You might think this is a solo game. Wrong. The best loot (i.e., crowded malls) requires a raid party.

Look for the group of three zombies walking into a wall. That’s a sign of a high-level clan. Approach slowly. To communicate, use the Moan button three times, pause, then twice. (Translation: "Brains... over there... maybe?")

Once accepted into the Horde, you gain the "Strength in Numbers" buff. You no longer have to aim; just follow the crowd. If the zombie in front of you stops to eat a squirrel, you stop too. It’s the law.

Part 3: The Zombie Empire (Base Building)

After Level 35, the game pivots again. You have a Horde. Now you need a Hive.

The Underground Lair mechanic unlocks at Level 40. You must assign your converted zombies to different tasks.

Optimal Lair Setup (The "Brain Trust" Layout):

  • Slot 1 (Cerebrum): 1x Scientist Zombie (Researches "Double Tap Resistance").
  • Slot 2 (Gestalt): 5x Standard Zombies (Mining brains from the sewer pipes).
  • Slot 3 (Necro-dynamics): 2x Jogger Zombies (Fast ones) set to "Scavenge." They bring back watches and radios, which you dismantle for scrap metal.
  • Slot 4 (The Pit): 1x Brute Zombie to guard against Survivor Raids.

Ignoring the Pit is the #1 reason players lose their save file. Survivor Raids happen every 4 hours of real time. If your Pit is empty, they will kill your Scientist Zombie. It takes 6 hours to re-craft a Scientist.

Chapter 2: The Mechanics of Rot (Core Systems)

Unlike human survival games, your stats degrade differently. You do not need water. You do not need shelter from cold. You need Decay Management and Brain Satiety.
